In musical context the term syncope means an unexpected variation in rhythm. It describes a disruption of an otherwise harmonious system.
This work plays with the concept of harmony and the idea that harmony is the balance between temperate tension and tensionless uniformity. Harmony arises where chaos merges with order and order into chaos.
The first video in black and white was digitally shot in Venice. The second color video was shot in Berlin on 16mm.
The musical pattern, that the pictures describe, was later translated into sound by Guido Canziani Jona.
